Parent Education Class
Empowering Parents
Service Description
These trauma-informed parent education classes provide caregivers with practical tools and supportive guidance to better understand their children's emotional needs, strengthen communication, and create healthier routines at home. Classes combine evidence-informed strategies with developmentally appropriate approaches to help parents navigate everyday challenges with greater confidence. Topics include understanding how trauma, stress, and nervous system activation influence behavior; helping children manage big emotions; and teaching coping skills that build resilience. Parents also learn positive reinforcement strategies, consistent routines, effective responses to challenging behaviors, and ways to reduce power struggles. Communication and connection strategies focus on strengthening relationships, supporting emotional expression, and responding with empathy and consistency. DBT-informed techniques introduce mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills that caregivers can model and practice with their children. Classes also explore developmental needs across different ages, helping parents adapt their approaches to their child's emotional, behavioral, and cognitive development. Designed for parents, caregivers, and guardians, these classes offer a collaborative, strengths-based learning environment focused on practical skills that can be applied in everyday family life. Availability: Classes are offered throughout the year with rotating topics and formats. Contact me for upcoming schedules, availability, and registration details.
